WA's, Family, and Pretzels!

Micah and I are really enjoying being back in Zeeland, and now everything is nice and quiet, because its spring break around here.  We spent our weekend, spending time with friends, and family.

Saturday Night we had our biggest WA-regathering yet! With Megan now back in Grand Rapids, she and her husband Eric were able to come.  So we had 9 people, 6 original WA's.  Thats prettty impressive! We are so blessed to be able to still be close with these wonderful people. They were an important part of our lives, We both learned a lot about ourselves and about God with these people, and Micah and I met and started dating while we were worship apprentices. We are thankful for how these people who have become some of our closest friends.
We had so much good food!

After the WA-fun, we picked up Leah and drove to Big Rapids to spend the night, and the next day with Micah's family. We wanted to celebrate Leah's 21st Birthday with the VH family.  Micah's mom made a gluten free Black Forest Cake. It was delicious!  Plus, I love taking pictures of food, it always looks so good!

Black Forest Cake, yum!
Leah was pumped about being 21!

I have been inspired by Micah's mothers wonderful cooking, and decided to make pretzels today.  Although Micah's mom always cooks Gluten Free, I made my pretzels with wheat flour. The dough was tricky, I spent a long time kneading it. At least, It seemed like a long time... but because it felt so long,  I am not sure I will be making it again soon. However, Micah and I loved enjoying the finished product.  Not too bad for my first time baking from scratch with yeast.

Notice that the pretzel on the right is shaped like a treble clef!
Micah and I will be spending tomorrow cleaning out some of the basement closets at the church. There are so many things down there that have been there for years and years! Its time to combine the art supplies from a few storage closets and see exactly what we have. Micah has volunteered to help me with the project.  He is always really helpful, I love when I have projects like this that I can use his help with.

Thanks for checking in with us, We'll write again real soon.

  1. Meredith, your gluten/glutton typing error is pretty funny. I'd like some glutton-free cake. Those gluttons eat all the cake!

But the pretzels look great! Justin has used the kitchenaid dough hook to kneed stuff, although I don't mind doing it when I'm up for a project.
