February Updates

What a strange week it has been!

Many of you know that Micah has been working his way to get into a graduate program in Physical Therapy.  He decided to pursue this late into his 4 years at Calvin, so since he graduated in May 2010, he has taken more classes, both at Calvin and Grand Valley in order to meet the prerequisites needed by All of the schools to apply to their programs.  He applied to get into a few programs to begin in fall 2011.  But very quickly in 2010 did we find out that schools want you to have all your prerequisites completed, not just mostly completed.  Micah continued to take more classes, improve his grades on a class or two and retake the GRE test.  He reapplied to different school this fall for enrollment into their programs in 2012 (summer or fall).   After months and months of waiting and praying, February rolled around, and many schools had told us that we would find out in early February.  By the end of the second week, Micah got a letter from UofM telling him that he was an alternate in their program.  This week wednesday, Micah got a letter from Central Michigan University telling him that he was an alternate there as well. Micah got on the phone with CMU shortly after to ask a question about the letter. He called them and was shocked to find out that they had been trying to reach him to invite him to be a part of the incoming class.   Micah thought he was on the waiting list for Central Michigan and a few hours later was accepted. It was a wonderful answer to prayer.

We are so excited for Micah-- It's wonderful to see where God is calling him to do his work, and that his dreams will come true- he will be a physical therapist.

With the good news of Micah's acceptance comes the sad news of needing to move.  Its not easy telling people in Zeeland that we have grown to love over the past three years that its our time to go. With so many friends and church family that we have gotten very close too (plus the children youth and families that I have worked so closely with for three years) its been an emotional week (and will continue to be emotional for us). We know that God has a plan for us both and are excited to see what opportunities God will have for both of us in Mount Pleasant.

Micahs classes at CMU begin on May 7th, which adds a little extra pressure to us to figure out everything as soon as possible. We will be going up to Mount Pleasant together soon to look at housing options and explore the city a little bit. (I have never been there).

We appreciate all of your support and prayers through out the years, and would love for you to keep praying for a smooth transition for us together as we figure out how to say goodbye to our favorite little town Zeeland,  and begin to think about the future in Mt. Pleasant.

Lots of Love,
Meredith and Micah

p.s. I got a feather in her hair this weekend. Even though most people had them last summer, I waited til they were not so trendy, and got a real light one with Alisha and Ruthie.  I am really enjoying the little bit of spunk I feel because of it. its fabulous.
Can you see the feather? its that light streek on the left side of my hait.  yeah, its awesome.
